Terms of use.

1. Who these terms are between

When this document says we, us, or Wisspa, it means TechGuider (Sydney, Australia), the publisher of the Wisspa desktop application. When it says you, it means the person who installs and uses the Wisspa application, or the business on whose behalf you do so.

Using Wisspa means you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, don’t install or use the application.

2. What you’re getting

Wisspa is a macOS desktop application. It is currently distributed free of charge as a bring-your-own-key tool: you supply your own Groq and Anthropic API keys, and the app talks to those providers directly. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Wisspa on macOS devices you own or control, for your own work or business.

A paid subscription with managed API access (no keys required) is planned — see “Subscription, trial, and billing” below. When it launches, use under the paid plan will be licensed for the duration of your subscription or trial.

You don’t get any other rights. In particular, the source code is not licensed to you — see “Intellectual property” below.

3. Subscription, trial, and billing (planned — not yet in effect)

Wisspa is free to download and use today. There is no checkout, no trial clock, and no license key — nothing in this section currently applies to your use of the app.

We intend to launch a paid subscription at USD $15 per month, with a 14-day free trial and no credit card required up front. When the paid plan launches, the following terms will take effect for it:

Billing will be handled by LemonSqueezy, which will be the Merchant of Record for the sale. That means LemonSqueezy charges your card, issues receipts, handles sales tax / GST / VAT for your jurisdiction, and is the legal counterparty for the payment itself. Their terms apply to the payment transaction in addition to ours.

You will be able to cancel at any time from the subscription management link LemonSqueezy emails you, or from your account page on lemonsqueezy.com. Cancellation stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.

Refunds: we will offer a 30-day full refund, no questions asked. Email support@wisspa.app and we’ll process it via LemonSqueezy.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble Wisspa, except where this is permitted by law you cannot waive (e.g. interoperability rights under EU or Australian law).
• Resell, sublicense, lease, or otherwise distribute Wisspa, or grant others access to your installation in a way that bypasses the paid plan once it launches.
• Remove, alter, or obscure copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices in Wisspa.
• Use Wisspa to violate the law, infringe anyone’s rights, or generate or distribute content that’s illegal where you live or where it’s received.
• Circumvent any license validation, trial limits, or rate limits introduced with the paid plan, or share a license key with anyone outside your household or business.

5. Your audio and your text

Wisspa captures audio from your microphone when you hold a hotkey, sends it directly from your Mac to Groq for speech-to-text transcription, and sends the resulting transcript directly to Anthropic for cleanup or rewriting — in both cases under your own API keys, with no Wisspa server in between. We don’t receive or store your audio or transcripts. A local history of your recent activity is kept on your own Mac and can be cleared from Settings → History. The app also checks an update manifest hosted on GitHub Releases; nothing about you is sent with that check.

You own your audio, transcripts, and the rewritten output. We claim no rights over them. By using Wisspa you confirm that you have the right to record and send the audio you’re capturing — particularly when the audio includes the voice of someone other than yourself.

6. Intellectual property

Wisspa, including its source code, design, brand, documentation, and marketing materials, is owned by TechGuider. All rights are reserved. Nothing in these terms gives you ownership or any license over the source code; the binary you install is licensed under the terms in this document and the LICENSE notice that ships with the application.

Feedback you send us about Wisspa (bug reports, feature ideas, suggestions) can be used by us without restriction or obligation. You don’t need to send us feedback, but when you do, you’re giving us a free hand to act on it.

7. Third-party services

Wisspa relies on third-party APIs and services. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms in addition to ours:

• Groq — speech-to-text transcription, called directly from your Mac under your own API key. Your Groq agreement governs that traffic, including usage billing on your Groq account.
• Anthropic — Claude language models for cleanup and prompt rewriting, also called directly under your own API key and agreement.
• GitHub — hosts the app downloads and the auto-update manifest the app checks.
• Vercel — hosting infrastructure for the wisspa.app marketing site.
• Apple — the platform Wisspa runs on. Apple’s standard macOS permission prompts (Microphone, Accessibility, Screen Recording, Automation) apply.

Planned, once the paid plan launches: LemonSqueezy (payment processing and subscription billing) and Cloudflare (the API proxy — Workers + AI Gateway — that would route the desktop application’s Groq + Anthropic requests during a trial or active subscription). Neither is used by the app today.

8. No warranty

Wisspa is provided “as is”. We don’t promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, fit for any particular purpose, or that the AI output it generates will be accurate or appropriate for your use. We disclaim, to the maximum extent permitted by law, all implied warranties — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Some jurisdictions (including Australia under the Australian Consumer Law) imply consumer guarantees that can’t be excluded. Where those apply to you, the disclaimers in this section don’t limit those statutory rights.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you arising out of or related to Wisspa or these terms, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, is capped at the amount you paid us for Wisspa in the 12 months before the claim arose, or AUD $100 if that amount is zero (as it is while Wisspa is free).

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages — including lost profits, lost data, business interruption, or harm caused by the AI output Wisspa produces. You’re responsible for reviewing what Wisspa pastes into your apps before relying on it.

10. Termination

Your license to use Wisspa ends automatically when you breach these terms in a way that hasn’t been remedied within a reasonable time of us asking you to. Once the paid plan launches, a paid-plan license will also end when your subscription ends, when your trial expires without conversion, or when you cancel. After termination, sections 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, and 12 keep applying.

11. Changes to Wisspa and to these terms

Wisspa is a living product. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may issue auto-updates that change how the app behaves. We’ll try not to break things people rely on, but we don’t guarantee any particular feature will keep working forever.

We may also update these terms. If we do, we’ll post the new version at this URL with a fresh effective date. For material changes that affect existing customers, we’ll email you. Continued use after the changes take effect means you accept them; if you don’t, stop using the app (and cancel your subscription, if you have one).

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You and we both submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales for any dispute arising out of or related to these terms or Wisspa.
